About Me

My name is Xiao Lin Guan, and my life is a testament to the power of determination and personal growth. At the age of 12, I embarked on a life-changing journey from China to a new land. The challenges were numerous, primarily centered around the language barrier. However, I quickly realized that mastering English was essential for my personal and professional development. I took it upon myself to bridge this gap, starting by reading articles aloud in English and seeking guidance from my family. Gradually, my pronunciation improved, and so did my self-confidence. Through persistent effort and engaging in English conversations, I found my voice in this new environment.

In 2022, I proudly graduated with a degree in computer science, but my thirst for knowledge and growth drove me to enroll in App Academy in May 2023. This decision reflects my unwavering commitment to enhancing my coding skills and gaining practical experience before entering the working world. Beyond coding, you'll often find me engrossed in a good book, refining my badminton skills on the court, or, I confess, indulging in karaoke, even if my singing occasionally tests the limits of my friends' tolerance! My strengths lie in my flexibility, diligence, and a positive mindset, all of which have shaped me into who I am today. As I look ahead, I envision myself thriving as a software engineer, contributing my skills to projects that create a real impact. I invite you to join me on this journey of discovery and growth, and together, let's connect, collaborate, and make a positive change.

mern project JMAX

JMAX

A MERN stack web app is designed as a problem-solving platform where users can post daily life issues and seek help from others. Users can create requests in three categories: Home Repair, Delivery, and Driver. Fellow users can respond with offers to these requests. Private chat functionality allows users to have online conversations, and requesters can accept offers and leave comments acting as reviews.

Yep!

A web app clone of Yelp allows users to view restaurants with exact locations on Google Maps. Users can search for restaurants they are interested in, leave reviews, and provide ratings. Users can also react to each other's reviews and follow each other to explore more local restaurants. Additionally, users can filter the restaurants based on price range, zip code, and ratings.

Hey Wake Up!

A browser game built with JavaScript challenges users' clicking speed on dog images within a limited time duration. This game draws inspiration from daily lectures, where students try hard to stay awake when the instructors are looking at them. Users are expected to keep clicking on each dog image to ensure their energy level doesn't drop below 50% when the timer stops. If the energy level falls below 50%, it means the dogs are falling asleep, while above 50% indicates that the dogs are energetic.
